I remember watching Yeezy Fall 2020. There were so many new ideas on fashion and footwear that were so overwhelming. There was a lot of high level crafting for the silhouettes, because they were amazing. Then all the footwear were just things you’ve never seen before. Those too looked amazing. One notable thing for me was this tall boot that I really liked looking at, but it was something I’ve never seen in footwear. Later on becoming one of the best new silhouettes of 2021, the Yeezy NSLTD BT. It’s just so obscure and wild looking. Definitely one that is gonna turn heads. This blanket covered boot, that looks weirdly slant-ish. So many questions about it when it first surfaced. What am I gonna wear this wild boot with? How does it feel on foot? Especially for Yeezys, what will the sizing for these things be? Even with all these questions. I knew I wanted them from the jump. Luckily when they first came out. They were going for under $400. Probably because others didn’t want to risk it yet. There is no reference to get an idea of this boot. So people probably waited to see how others wore it, and to see feedback first. I’m happy I just went for the risk.
First, you know it’s a big boot, so it came in this big surreal box. Then you pull them out. They were so gorgeous. You just stare and observe them for a bit, because it’s just nothing you’ve seen before. The moment of truth is here, putting them on. It has this velcro, unlike any velcro you’ve ever seen. Then when you put them on, it felt so weird. It had a high lift to them, giving you extra inches in height. Then it was this weird slant to it. Which you had to be very mindful of, especially when you were walking downstairs. The main question comes, what the heck am I gonna wear this obscure boot with? I’m a fashion guy, so I was gonna be experimental. The first main fit I wore with them was this yellow rubber rain suit. It was channeling my childhood. I’ve always wanted to wear a yellow rubber rain suit, since watching Caillou and other cartoons. I also wore a brown Hane’s hoodie. Chocolate brown medium Telfar. Then lastly my Yeezy boots. It was an outfit that definitely got some looks. Others didn’t know where to look first. My very yellow rain suit, or my extraterrestrial boots.
Later on, this became my everyday shoe. I know it sounds crazy, but these boots are so comfy and cozy. I luckily got the perfect size. I can just slide my foot in and they fit so cozy, and I’m on the go. For errands and to walk my brother to the bus. “Let me go grab my Yeezy boots.” I got them around fall or winter, so they were perfect for then. They ironically replaced my foam runners for the most convenient footwear at the time. I don’t feel these are winter boots either. I have been wearing this throughout the summer, and will continue to. This is all year footwear. It doesn’t suffocate my foot like others would assume. Most times, I just can’t make myself put on something besides these Yeezy Boots. I also know how to easily style them now. Goes great with some 505 Levi Jeans. I just love them. The Yeezy NSLTD boot was the best footwear of 2021.
