This prompt references a quote from Abbie from 20th Century Women: “It’s…it’s like they’ve got all this is feeling and they don’t have any skill and they don’t want skill, because it’s really interesting what happens when your passion is bigger than the tools you have to deal with it. It creates this this energy, that’s raw..”
I run into this a lot with some new interest I find. I have an interest I wanna dive in, but minimal tools to express. Leads to the arousing tension of your vision and lack of ability to see it through. That can lead to a chaotic earthquake of an expression. If you’re able to get a bit of expression out.
It just gets frustrating sometimes because you want your ideas and vision out now. You just gotta be patient enough to discipline yourself to equip the tools you need. My biggest nemesis is drawing. I know I can get where I need to be. Made progress. Just frustratingly impatient sometimes. That sometimes makes you shy away. Like you can’t miss if you don’t shoot. You just gotta get over avoiding the errors and failures, and allow them. Sometimes it can become a beautiful part of the process. Once you discipline yourself to learn something foreign. It’s daunting when you look at the end goal of what you want. If you just take one step at a time. You’ll make good progress in learning a new language.
Sometimes though, When you don’t obtain those skills. And just have the frustration from your lack of skill. If you can get that frustration on whatever canvas you use. It can make some pretty cool art. Raw visceral energy.
